As my wife and I will be emigrating to Australia (more entries on that to come later) the guys i normal cycle with decided to do what they kindly called a memorial ride – not the nicest choice of names! We decided to do the Strava London route of the London to Windsor Loop. Being January we weren’t expecting the best weather but the forecast wasn’t that bad – just a bit cold. The guys got me a SouthAustralia.com gilet which i was very thankful for the extra warmth.
The route out of London from Richmond Park wasn’t particularly nice on fairly busy roads, it was nicer later on when getting towards Eton. We stopped for some lunch in the Cinnamon Cafe in Windsor next to the station – they offer a discount for cyclists so well worth a visit.
Whilst we were stopped it started to rain a bit which continued for most of the rest of the afternoon until we made it back to Kingston. The ride back through Windsor Great Park would have been much nicer if it wasn’t for the rain; was great car free roads to ride on. Apart from being very cold it was a great last ride to remind me of how cold and wet cycling in the UK winter can be, looking forward to seeing what it is like out in Australia now.
Here is a video of the ride generated on Quik which great little app for generating highlight videos.
